Dear FCC, it is so hard to lose my best friend, Richard. He had several cardiac arrests. He never woke up, didn’t know what had happened to him and did not suffer. He peacefully went to be with our Lord.

Update from Rev. Jake M. Caldwell
Dear Friends,
I'm sure by now you have heard that Governor Larry Hogan has mandated the closure of all non-essential businesses in Maryland. The First Christian Church office will be closed beginning on Tuesday, March 24th. I wanted to make you aware of how this will impact some vital functions of the congregation until we are able to return to normal operations.
In these trying times, we are called to remember our neighbors in need.
First Christian will continue to stock our little pantry. If you would like to make a contribution of non-perishable items, please place them directly into the Little Pantry located on Potomac Avenue.
Take what you need. Leave what you can.

Pastoral Update from Rev. Jake M. Caldwell
Dear Friends,
I pray that you and your family are safe and well. These are troubled times and I certainly share in your wondering about what the days, weeks, and months to come hold in store. Whatever may come, our faith teaches us that we can place our trust in the one who created us and whose love never fails us. May you find peace in the knowledge that God is bigger than the trouble of the day, however real and fearsome that trouble may be.
I was reminded this week of some wise and timely words a three-year-old uttered to me, her anxious father. Seven years ago, this week, I was fast asleep one night.
On March 12, Governor Larry Hogan instituted several state-wide measures to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus, including a two-week closure of schools and a ban on gatherings of 250 people. In response, the leadership of First Christian Church has decided to cancel all church related activities and all non-church functions scheduled on church property, including worship, from Friday March 13th through Saturday March 28th. We will evaluate the potential to hold worship on Sunday March 29th as public officials continue to release additional details about the Coronavirus pandemic and issue further guidance.
